Thanksgiving activites

Fun times for English! We've been learning to follow directions written and verbal. In class we were to follow verbal directions to make a turkey, then write directions to give to someone else to make our turkey. If we were successful, we would have two similar turkey's. Some students were very successul, and others...well... not so much. No matter what the results, we had fun.

Thanksgiving
Turkeys

Materials:
Oreo cookies
Candy corn
Malt balls (whoppers)
miniature chocolate chips
Chocolate frosting
red gel

Directions:
1. Twist open oreos so that the white filling is on one side of the cookie.
2. With Chocolate frosting, frost the second side of the cookie.
3. "glue" the two sides of the cookie at a ninety degree angle, the white side is the "snow" the turkey sits on.
4. "glue" a malt ball to the base of the 90 degree angle
5. "glue" a half of another malt ball to the top front of the first malt ball.
6. use the chocolate chips to create the eyes and beak of the turkey
7. Use the red gel to form a gobble.
8. Place 4-5 candy corns around the malt balls, flat against the chocolate frosting side of the cookies.

This Trimester

We've had a great trimester! I've discovered a lot about our classes and how they learn best. We've done many great art projects so keep it up. Here are some of our most recent art projects:

These are just a few of our Japanese landscapes. the more colorful ones are on the classwall. These are some of our best! Great job 7th graders!

Our 8th graders created some flags for a pretend regiment of the Continental Army.
